SSA Annual Scientific Meeting – Workshops on Wednesday 13th
October
There are some
important workshops for the annual scientific meeting that will
be held on Wednesday 13th October. These meetings are:
1.
Australasian Stroke Unit Network (ASUN) Meeting 10:00am -12:00 midday
2. Australasian Stroke Trials Network (ASTN) Annual General Meeting
13:00 – 14:00
3. DICE/ARCH/Epithet meetings 14:30 to 16:00
Australasian
Stroke Trial Network (ASTN) Workshop in Hobart
This is a new
ASTN initiative that may be helpful to Neurologists wanting to be
successful in recruiting for research trials.
A wealth of
experience will be shared in a condensed 90 minute session.
Topics discussed
will be: hints on choosing a co-ordinator, your legal responsibilities,
some of the most experienced & best co-ordinators will divulge
their pearls of wisdom on initiation visits, ethics, recruitment,
and staying sane through the process!

Travelling Fellowships
In keeping with
the principal goals of the SSA, which include promoting research
into stroke, the SSA calls for applications for the Overseas Travelling
Fellowship/Study Scholarship, as support for a young researcher
seeking research experience overseas. The $5000 fellowship is intended
to defray the costs of travel and accommodation.
Both medical
and non-medical members of the SSA are encouraged to apply for these
short (one month) and long term (one year) fellowships. Eligibility
criteria and further requirements are available here.

for these awards should be forwarded to:
Secretary.
The deadline for receipt of applications is 28th January
2005.
