The Australian Stroke Coalition was established by the Stroke Society of Australasia and the National Stroke Foundation on 11 July, 2008. The Coalition brings together representatives from groups and organisations working in the stroke field, such as clinical networks and professional associations and colleges.
The main aim of the Australian Stroke Coalition is to provide a critical communication link between relevant organisations and their members regarding stroke care in Australia. In particular, the aims are to:
- Develop a set of priorities for stroke care based on gaps identified in the national audit and other health data sources.
- Determine a coordinated strategy by which to improve these priority areas.
